During these closures, there will be signed detours. ODOT is working with local jurisdictions to minimize local impacts. In order to protect the safety of workers and the nearby residential areas, we ask that drivers slow down and follow the signed detours. People traveling in this area should plan for delays and longer travel times, particularly during morning and evening rush hour.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

  • I-205 northbound and southbound nightly periodic lane closures between Exit 8 and Exit 9 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through September 2023; I-205 remains open. 45 mph speed limit is enforced within the construction area.
  • Clackamette Drive single lane closure with temporary signal and flagger through late 2023.

  • OR 99E shoulder lane closures through late 2023. Northbound OR 99E auxiliary lane closure through Aug. 2023.

River Impacts

  • The Willamette River remains accessible during Abernethy Bridge construction; the Sportcraft Boat Ramp is open.

  • 'No wake' zones are in place through the bridge construction area on the Willamette River and will remain until 2024.
  • River users will notice several large barges anchored in the river and are required to stay 200 feet away from the barges. River users are urged to use extreme caution. All boaters must travel between the green and red buoys.

Bike and Pedestrian Impacts

  • The pedestrian stairway from Willamette Drive to Territorial Drive in West Linn closed through summer 2023. Use approximately one half-mile signed detour via Mill Street.

  • Bike and pedestrian routes through construction zones are in place. Pedestrians and cyclists need to use caution when traveling through the project. Follow signs and stay alert.

Construction has started on the project’s first phase and will last through 2025. You can visit Tripcheck.com for real-time traffic impacts. Stay safe out there. Pay attention to signs and travel safely through the construction zone.
