Commercial Street entry to Marion Street Bridge closed Thursday night

Bridge will remain open from Front Street during work 

Sept. 5, 2023

SALEM – The intersection at Commercial Street NE and the Marion Street Bridge will be closed Thursday night for repaving. The closure will start at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, and we expect to reopen the intersection at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8.

The Marion Street Bridge will remain open at the on-ramp from Front Street NE.

Southbound Commercial Street detour is Front Street and Trade Street:

• If you want to go south on Commercial, continue in the right lanes on Front Street and follow it as it banks left onto Trade Street, then turn right back onto Commercial.

• If you want to cross the bridge to go to West Salem or OR 22, continue in the left lane on Front Street and continue as it banks left onto Trade Street. Then turn left onto Liberty Street NE and left for the Front Street Bypass on Ferry Street. Move to the right lane on Front Street and take the on-ramp onto the bridge.

Westbound Marion Street detour is Commercial Street:

• If you are westbound on Marion Street and wish to cross the bridge to West Salem or OR 22, turn left at Commercial Street, then right onto Ferry Street and Front Street to the on-ramp to the bridge.

Northbound on Commercial Street heading toward downtown to West Salem or OR 22:

• Use the Front Street Bypass and on-ramp from the right lane on Front onto the bridge. (If this is the way you were planning to get on the bridge anyway, then the project won't detour your route.)
