Construction crews are working hard to complete safety and accessibility improvements on OR 99W in Tigard between I-5 and SW McDonald Street. This month, we begin bridge maintenance work on the elevated section of OR 99W over the railroad tracks and Fanno Creek. The work includes repairing bridge joints and installing waterproofing to extend the life of both bridges.
In order to complete this work, we will reduce OR 99W to one lane in each direction between SW Greenburg Road and SW Johnson Street the weekends of August 11 and August 18. Expect congestion in this area during the work. Here are the details:
-
Weekend one: The lane reductions begin Friday night, August 11 at 10:30 p.m. and continue until Monday morning, August 14 at 4:30 a.m.
-
Weekend two: The lane reductions begin Friday night, August 18 at 10:30 p.m. and continue until Monday morning, August 21 at 4:30 a.m.
- OR 99W will be one lane in each direction in the half-mile section between SW Greenburg Road and SW Johnson Street.
- The specific traffic configuration will vary throughout both weekends, with signs and orange barrels leading drivers through the work zone. Be prepared to slow down and follow the traffic control.
- Travel will be intermittently restricted onto SW Main Street from OR 99W/SW Johnson Street. Access to SW Main Street from OR 99W/SW Greenburg Road will remain open. Travelers will be able to exit SW Main Street onto OR 99W at both SW Greenburg Road and SW Johnson Street.
- Oversized trucks will follow a signed detour route using SW Greenburg Road and SW Hall Boulevard to bypass the lane reduction section.
- Plan for extra time to get to your destination and expect congestion in both directions of OR 99W.
- Use caution and drive slowly through the work zone. Visit Tripcheck.com for real-time traffic impacts.
We are four months into construction and making good progress installing new sidewalks, building curb ramps and rebuilding driveways. So far, we built approximately 1,500 feet of new sidewalk (another 3/4 mile to go!) and 12 new ADA-accessible curb ramps (over 100 to go!).
Crews building new ADA-accessible sidewalk curb ramps on OR 99W.
Over the next few months we'll continue with the sidewalk and curb ramp construction, along with building new retaining walls. Paving will happen in summer 2024.
Thank you for your patience traveling through this area as we build these important improvements.
This $41 million project includes new sidewalks, bicycle lanes, curb ramps and paving.
