The northbound span of the Interstate Bridge will close on two upcoming August nights for maintenance.
Crews will use the closures to carry out several maintenance projects, including electrical work and bridge deck repairs. During the closure, the Washington Department of Transportation will also make repairs to I-5 at the north end of the bridge.
The bridge’s northbound span will close from 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 to 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20 and again from 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21.
The Hayden Island on-ramp to northbound I-5 will also be closed during those hours.
As a detour, travelers bound for Washington should take Interstate 84 east to Interstate 205 and the Glenn Jackson Bridge north across the Columbia River.
The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by ODOT. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
