FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 31, 2023
WEST LINN — Starting on Friday, Aug. 4 at 10 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 28 at 5 a.m., construction of the new roundabout connecting OR 43 with northbound I-205 will result in two closures in West Linn.
Closures:
- I-205 northbound exit 8 to OR 43
- OR 43 in both directions from Willamette Falls Drive to the I-205
southbound off-ramps
Please follow the signed detour routes:
These closures are necessary to allow crews to work on the new roundabout, which is a critical safety improvement and expected to open for travelers on Aug. 28. To learn more about how the new roundabout will function, please see this animation.
During these closures, there will be signed detours. ODOT is working with local jurisdictions to minimize local impacts. In order to protect the safety of workers and the nearby residential areas, we ask that drivers slow down and follow the signed detours. People traveling in this area should plan for delays and longer travel times, particularly during morning and evening rush hour.
Drivers are encouraged to sign up for project-related email and text message alerts, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while crews perform this critical work. We understand detours are disruptive. This schedule is designed to allow work to be completed before the busy Labor Day travel holiday and the start of the new school year.
When this project is completed in 2025, the Abernethy Bridge will be the first earthquake ready highway bridge across the Willamette River in the Portland area. The project will also result in safer on- and off-ramps adjacent to the bridge. Learn more about the project at: i205corridor.org.
About the Urban Mobility Strategy ODOT's Urban Mobility Strategy is a cohesive approach to make everyday travel safer and more predictable in the Portland metropolitan area.
