TIGARD -- Starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6., crews will close the southbound OR 99W on-ramp to northbound OR 217 around-the-clock until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14 as part of the OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project that will bring major improvements to the west side corridor.
This closure is needed for crews to excavate the current shoulder and rebuild new foundations for the future auxiliary lane and safety shoulder.
-
Detour: Use the OR 99W on-ramp to head south on OR 217. Exit at 72nd Avenue (Exit 7) and then use the 72nd Avenue on-ramp to head north on OR 217.
During this time, there may be additional, periodic nighttime-only traffic impacts from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on some nights:
-
The northbound OR 99W loop ramp to northbound OR 217. Drivers can use the same detour described above.
-
Northbound OR 217 reduced to one lane from 72nd Avenue to OR 99W.
Check tripcheck.com before you travel for up-to-date traffic impacts and to help plan your route.
The ramp from southbound OR 99W, Pacific Highway West, to northbound OR 217 will be closed Aug. 6-14.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project will improve safety and reduce bottlenecks on OR 217 by adding auxiliary lanes -- ramp to ramp connections -- between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and OR 99W. Work began in December 2021 and will continue through 2025.
Project benefits include:
- New pedestrian and bicycle improvements enhancing local neighborhoods and expanding opportunities for people walking, bicycling and rolling, in partnership with the City of Beaverton and Washington County
- Auxiliary lanes we expect will reduce highway crashes by 20% to 30%.
- A frontage road for southbound drivers connecting Allen Boulevard and Denney Road, making trips safer for drivers by decreasing merges onto OR 217.
