Improving Oregon's economy – safer, more reliable, earthquake ready travel
During this closure, drivers will follow a detour using southbound I-205 to Exit 6 (10th Street), then cross under the freeway to access northbound I-205.
Construction crews are working on the new roundabout connecting OR 43 with northbound I-205. Highway access will be restored when the roundabout is completed late summer 2023. This is one of the critical safety improvements of the project.
Closure:
- Northbound OR 43 to northbound I-205 on-ramp in West Linn.
Signed Detour through August 4:
- Use southbound I-205 to Exit 6 (10th Street), then cross under the freeway to access northbound I-205. This detour has been used multiple times in the past.
August 4 to August 28:
- Full northbound/southbound closure of OR 43 between Willamette Falls Drive and freeway ramps.
- Northbound I-205 Exit 8 to OR 43 closure.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts
- I-205 northbound and southbound nightly periodic lane closures between Exit 8 and Exit 9 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through September 2023; I-205 remains open. 45 mph speed limit is enforced within the construction area.

Bike and Pedestrian Impacts
Construction has started on the project’s first phase and will last through 2025. You can visit Tripcheck.com for real-time traffic impacts. Stay safe out there. Pay attention to signs and travel safely through the construction zone.
The I-205 Improvements Project is part of a larger regional effort to manage congestion, increase predictable travel times and reduce crashes. Project improvements will allow the I-205 corridor to remain open and passable following a major earthquake. A safer, less congested corridor will play a critical role in a healthy Oregon economy.
