Merge right from new acceleration lanes
We want to alert people using U.S. 20 between Corvallis and Albany about how drivers will now use the median acceleration lanes added for the safety improvements project.
If you are turning left from Granger Avenue onto U.S. 20 toward Albany, you will enter a new acceleration lane that becomes a left-turn-only lane to the Independence Highway. If you want to continue toward Albany, you need to merge right one lane before you reach Independence Highway. There is also a new median acceleration lane for drivers turning left from Independence Highway onto U.S. 20. Drivers will also need to merge right.
What you can see now:
While drivers are learning how to use the new acceleration lanes, we have traffic barrels in the work zone to draw attention to the raised median traffic separators. The permanent solution is to replace the barrels with reflective markers.
Check out this video to see what traveling through this section of U.S. 20 looks like.

What's been happening this week and what you can expect after the holiday weekend
We have been placing temporary lane striping and permanent rumble strips this week and expect to install the permanent striping and signs after the holiday weekend.
We're working both during the day and at nights on this project. The bulk of the work will be completed this summer and estimate completing all tasks by the end of the year.
Please use caution in work zones, even when they are not active, for your safety and the safety of road crews. The U.S. 20 construction speed limits are 45 m.p.h. from Independence Highway to south of Garland Nursery, and 40 m.p.h. from Conifer Boulevard to Merloy Avenue. Watch for bikes and pedestrians in the work zones.

Coming up later this year
We are planning to install new striping and signing east of the current projects, from Bower's Slough Bridge to North Albany Road.
