Work scheduled to begin on U.S. 20/OR 201 at Cairo Junction

Construction of a single-lane roundabout at Cairo Junction is set to begin next week and continue into 2024.

The contractor, Marcum & Sons, will be on-site in the next few weeks to move in equipment, begin site surveys, install temporary signs, remove vegetation and perform other minor tasks.

Before construction begins on the roundabout, traffic will need to be re-routed through the Cairo Junction intersection. In order to set this up, you can expect to see intermittent flaggers with possible lane closures in the next couple of weeks. Expect traffic patterns to change frequently this summer. Please drive through the area with caution even if you pass through multiple times a day or throughout the week. The winter traffic pattern for construction of the roundabout is expected to be in place this fall.

This project also includes safety upgrades on U.S. 20 between Riley Junction and Ontario. Work includes paving existing pullouts and upgrading intersections from mileposts 114 to 258. Intermittent work is expected throughout the summer.
