Construction Update |

Construction on I-5 south of Eugene has started
We've started work to repair I-5 south of Eugene this week. We're working in both the north and southbound lanes.
The first thing we'll do is prepare the project area. We'll work nightly, Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The road in the project area is a mix of asphalt and concrete, we will repair the concrete sections first.
Speed is reduced to 55 m.p.h. in the work zone.

You can expect:
- Shoulder and lane closures.
- Construction noise.
- Delays up to 20 minutes.
- Ramp closures and detours.
We're making repairs to the road to extend the life of the pavement and make it safer for drivers.
This section of roadway shows signs of wear, cracking and potholes. Worn roads are less safe for drivers and leads to increased gas and maintenance cost for drivers.
With this project, we'll do maintenance repairs before extensive work is required.
We will:
- Patch failures in the existing concrete pavement.
- Resurface asphalt to repair cracking, rutting, and wear.
- Repair northbound and southbound lanes.
- Many ramps in the area will be repaved.
- Joint work on bridges and bridge deck membrane.
