Jan. 30, 2023

SILETZ – Travelers should plan for OR 229 Siletz Highway to be closed at milepost 18 during the day, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the next few days as crews remove over 900 cubic yards of rock that came off the hillside early Saturday morning. One travel lane will be open at night, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., controlled by flaggers.

This schedule could change if more rocks continue to fall.

Rocks frequently fall from the hillside at this narrow location. The road is closed during the day for safety as crews work. The road will fully reopen when the rocks are removed.

A rock slide on OR 229 Siletz Highway blocked the road at milepost 18 early Saturday morning.
