About the Committee

The Public Transportation Advisory Committee was first formed by the Oregon Transportation Committee in 2000. The committee acts as a liaison between the public and ODOT. PTAC serves as a forum for a diverse range of transit providers and other key stakeholders from across the state to come together and create a vision for equitable public transportation in Oregon.

As a member of the committee, you help inform policy and investment decisions to implement the Oregon Public Transportation (OPTP) and ODOT Strategic Action Plans (SAP) for all modes of public transportation throughout the state. The committee meets up to six times per year, with primarily virtual meetings held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on the 1st Monday of odd months. Committee members that are not reimbursed by an employer for their participation on the committee are also eligible for a cash stipend. Committee members are reimbursed for travel expenses and paid per diem for meals.

Throughout the year, the committee gathers input from residents, officials and ODOT staff as it considers public transportation-related issues. Upcoming work items include advising on use of funding from state and federal grant programs, selecting projects for funding through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF), informing decisions related to projects of statewide significance, the Oregon Public Transportation Plan and ODOT Strategic Action Plan, as well as other policies. PTAC’s work plan and other background materials are available on the committee’s website.
