We are improving pedestrian visibility in south Corvallis.
You'll see us in the area over the next several months installing lighting, and flashing lights to new advanced warning signs for the mid-block crossing by Chapman Place SE.
|
What we're doing now:
- Installing the foundation for a new light pole.
- Connecting power service to the cabinet for the new light pole to have electricity.
What we're doing next:
- We'll install the new street light, replace the existing street light with a new more efficient LED lightbulb and turn on the electricity.
- We'll install flashing lights on new advanced warning signs for the mid-block crossing, on southbound OR 99W.
What construction impacts can you expect:
- Crews are working during the day.
- Lane closures, as needed:
- Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
- Construction noise and activity over the next several months.
Details of what we've done and are working on in the area:
We have been making changes in the corridor to improve safety and how cars and people move through the area.
You can find more detailed information about the improvements on the project webpage.

For the pedestrian crossing, just passed Chapman Place SE, we:
- Improved the striping as shown in number one on the project area map.
- Are replacing the existing street light on the west side of the highway. On the east side, we're installing a new street light. Shown as number two on the project area map. We're constructing these improvements now.
- Are installing flashing beacons on the new advanced warning signs to alert southbound traffic of the mid-block crossing. Shown as number three on the project area map. We're constructing these improvements over the next few months.
