ODOT NEWS RELEASE
Weekday slowdowns planned for I-5 near Canyonville
October 28, 2022
CANYONVILLE – Interstate 5 motorists should expect weekday traffic delays through southern Douglas County the next two months for hazard tree removal.
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 1, contractors for ODOT will fell trees along the highway that were damaged in 2019 by the Milepost 97 Complex Fire south of Canyonville. The work is scheduled from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will continue until the end of the year.
Rolling slowdowns will be used in both directions and motorists should expect delays up to 20 minutes. Southbound traffic will be affected between Weaver Road (Exit 106) and Canyon Creek Pass (milepost 90) while northbound traffic will see slowdowns from Quines Creek (Exit 86) to milepost 97, near Canyon Creek Road.
Flaggers will hold traffic at each on-ramp in these areas for 10-20 minutes.
The work may also require lane and shoulder closures in both directions. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes.
