ODOT PROJECT UPDATE

Melrose Road is now open

Sept. 1, 2022

ROSEBURG – Melrose Road is now open to traffic. ODOT encourages motorists to use caution when approaching and crossing the new bypass bridge at the south Umpqua River.

The road had been closed one week to allow contractors to complete work on the bypass bridge, which is located next to the Conn Ford Bridge. The bypass bridge will be used the next 18-24 months while the Conn Ford Bridge is demolished and replaced,

Although the bypass bridge provides two lanes of travel, the curves at each end are sharp and there is a traffic signal at the east end. The speed limit through the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph.

For more information, visit the project website at www.MelroseBridge.com or contact ODOT Public Information Officer Dan Latham at Dan.Latham@odot.oregon.gov or 541-817-5200. Questions can also be directed Douglas County Public Information Officer Tamara Howell at 541-957-4896 or tjhowell@co.douglas.or.us.

Melrose Road is now open. For the next 18-24 months, local traffic will use a bypass bridge (left) to cross over the South Umpqua River while contractors remove and replace the Conn Ford Bridge (center). Motorists should drive with caution through the work zone due to sharp corners and a traffic signal at the east end of the bridge. ODOT PHOTO
