UNION -- The Oregon Department of Transportation will repave 11 miles of OR highway 203, from Union to Catherine Creek Lane. To share information about the upcoming project we are holding an ONLINE OPEN HOUSE from September 12 through September 23. Local residents, businesses and other interested parties are encouraged to visit the website and review project details and anticipated traffic impacts. The online open house will be available for viewing September 12 at the following web address: https://odotopenhouse.org/openhouse/or-203-union-to-catherine-creek.
OR 203 provides important access to recreation sites in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, and is also an Oregon Scenic Bikeway. The highway is in poor condition and creates a rough and unsafe ride for motorists and bicyclists. Other improvements include paving the Catherine Creek Summit Sno-park parking lot and replacing substandard railings on the Catherine Creek Bridge. We will design the project this year and construct it in 2023.
