ODOT CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:
REMINDER: Melrose Road will close at South Umpqua River for one week starting tomorrow morning
August 24, 2022
ODOT and Douglas County would like to remind local motorists that Melrose Road will close for about one week at the South Umpqua River starting early tomorrow morning (Thursday, August 25).
The closure will allow prime contractor Farline Bridge Inc. to finish building a temporary bypass bridge located next to the Conn Ford Bridge.
Detour: During the eight-day closure, local traffic will detour onto Old Melrose Road, Harvard Avenue, Stewart Parkway and Garden Valley Boulevard/Road. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and drive with caution on the detour. Due to expected congestion along the route, please give yourself extra travel time to reach our destination.
After the closure: Melrose Road is scheduled to reopen on Friday morning, Sept. 2, using the bypass bridge, which will include two travel lanes. A 35 mph speed zone is in effect through the work zone and motorists should drive with caution due to the curves at each end of the bypass bridge. Portable signals will provide traffic control through the work zone.
For more information: Visit the project website at www.MelroseBridge.com or contact ODOT Public Information Officer Dan Latham at Dan.Latham@odot.oregon.gov or 541-817-5200. Questions can also be directed Douglas County Public Information Officer Tamara Howell at 541-957-4896 or tjhowell@co.douglas.or.us.
