ODOT collaborates with Community Engagement Liaisons to better understand community needs and to design a toll system that benefits everyone.
A partnership between the Community Engagement Liaison program and the Oregon Department of Transportation has elevated the concerns and ideas for tolling from community members who are often overlooked. Liaisons are active community leaders who provide interpretation, translation, and engagement services for toll projects. We caught up with a few of the liaisons to learn more.

Employee commute pain—the stress and hassle of the commute—presents recruitment and retention issues for local employers amid acute workforce shortages.
“Commute pain”—the stress and hassle of the commute— was revealed in a survey as a top priority for employers relative to recruitment and retention, followed by supporting remote work. Get There Oregon, an initiative spearheaded by ODOT and local partners, recently conducted a survey among 225 HR professionals that revealed employers are prioritizing efforts to ease painful employee commutes particularly in order to drive recruitment and retention.
