Weekend overnight closures of I-5, Marquam to Fremont bridges, postponed until next weekend

The closures for maintenance work will now take place Friday night May 20 and Saturday night May 21

The closures planned for this weekend along Interstate 5 between the Marquam and Fremont bridges have been postponed for a week.

Crews had planned overnight maintenance work Friday and Saturday nights including lighting upgrades, graffiti clean-up and road deck improvements.

The work has been rescheduled to take place next weekend.

Here is the new closure schedule.

  • 9 p.m. Friday, May 20 to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 21, northbound I-5 will be closed from the Marquam Bridge to the Fremont Bridge. Northbound traffic will be directed onto northbound Interstate 405. The on-ramps from westbound Interstate 84 and the Morrison Bridge will also close.
  • 9 p.m. Saturday, May 21 to 6 a.m. Sunday, May 22, southbound I-5 will be closed from the Fremont Bridge to the Marquam Bridge. Southbound traffic will be directed onto I-405. The on-ramps from the Rose Quarter and from westbound I-84 will also be closed.
