FUEL TAX HOLIDAYS & SUSPENSIONS MAY IMPACT SOME FIRST QUARTER IFTA RETURNS

If you did not operate in Georgia or Maryland in the first quarter of 2022, you can disregard this message.

For the jurisdictions and periods below, IFTA-licensed motor carriers were able to purchase tax-free fuel and travel non-taxable miles.

Note: All mileage and fuel records must be maintained during the tax-free periods.

  • Georgia (GA): All fuel types and operations from March 18 through May 31, 2022.
  • Maryland (MD): All fuel types and operations from March 18 through April 16, 2022.

You must separate your Georgia and Maryland operations into two time periods. Separate all information regarding mileage or fuel purchased as follows:

  • GA or MD: Operations from 1/1/22 – 3/17/22, use the tax rates provided with your return.
  • GA2 or MD2: Operations from 3/18/22 – 3/31/22, use $0.00 as the Tax Rate in Column H.

For online returns through Oregon Trucking Online (TOL), simply enter your operations in the designated boxes and TOL will do the calculations for you.

For paper returns, cross out the abbreviation of an unused line or attach an additional sheet of paper. Write the new code beside it, insert operations, and calculate accordingly.
