Construction scheduled for 2nd Street Bridge over I-84 in La Grande

North 2nd Street in La Grande will be closed near the fairgrounds starting Monday, March 21. We expect work on this bridge to be completed by the end of July. Bicyclists and pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will be allowed access through the work zone at all times. Work on this bridge does not affect traffic on Interstate 84.

This is a full closure to vehicles on North 2nd Street between Cedar Street, north of Interstate 84, and Lake Avenue, south of I-84. We will stage a detour around the work zone as follows. From the fairgrounds, travel east on Blackhawk Trail Lane, turn right on Spruce Street, turn right on Y Avenue, turn right on Second Street, turn left on Division Avenue, right on First Street then right on Lake Avenue. You can find a map of the detour on our project webpage.

This is the second of six bridges scheduled for repairs this summer. The project contractor, HP Civil, Inc. from Stayton, Oregon, will upgrade bridge rails to current standards, repair and seal deck surfaces, and perform other necessary repairs to keep structures safe and in good condition.

Work began March 14 on the first bridge of this project, McAlister Lane Bridge over I-84 near the Flying J Travel Center truck stop. That project will have occasional delays through June.
