Expect delays Monday on OR 140, east of White City

WHITE CITY — Drivers on OR 140 can expect short delays through September because of several bridge improvement projects on Lake of the Woods Highway. The $3.3 million project strengthens five bridges to better withstand an earthquake.
The work is part of a bundle of seismic improvement projects to keep southern Oregon connected after a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake.
Beginning January 17 through September 1, contractor Carter and Company of Salem is scheduled to begin work that affects traffic on the following bridges:
- Little Butte Creek Bridge at MP 7.75
- Schoolhouse Creek Bridge at MP 8.46
- Lick Creek Bridge at MP 9.15, and
- North Fork Little Butte Creek Bridge at MP 15.44.
During construction, drivers can expect single-lane traffic and short delays for flaggers and temporary traffic signals.
The Sutherlin Creek Bridge on Del Rio Road, northwest of Roseburg, is the last bridge in this bundle. Work is set to start on that bridge June 8 - September 1 with a one week full closure, the week of August 8-13.
This work is part of the Southern Oregon Seismic Resilience project. Funded by the 2017 Keep Oregon Moving Act, the goal is to keep southern Oregon connected in the days/weeks, months after a major earthquake. Thirteen bridges and four slopes are included in this project, designed to give southwest Oregon a lifeline for needed goods and supplies after a major earthquake.
