Eugene DMV office will move to Valley River Center at end of year

Dec. 14, 2021

The Eugene DMV office is moving to Valley River Center and will be closed Dec. 24-31 for the move. It will reopen Monday, Jan. 3.

All state offices will be closed Dec. 24 and 31 because the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays fall on Saturdays this year.

The Eugene DMV has been located at 2870 W 10th Place since 1985, and the community has outgrown that space’s capacity. The office will move to a temporary location near the food court at Valley River Center until a permanent office in a building outside the mall is ready later in 2022.

The Eugene DMV office hours will remain the same: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except Wednesdays when the office is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you have an appointment set for the Eugene DMV on or after Jan. 3, be sure to go to Valley River Center. Eugene-area residents who need to visit a DMV in person during the week of Dec. 27 may consider visiting the Springfield DMV office at 204 N. 30th St.

All DMV offices are open for walk-in service or by appointment. You can set an appointment at DMV2U.Oregon.gov.

Now you can! At DMV2U

Before you visit a DMV office, see if you can get the DMV service you need at DMV2U.Oregon.gov.

DMV has added over 20 new services to DMV2U including driver license renewal, vehicle registration renewal, change of address, and more. Also, you can make an appointment for services that must be done in person – such as applying for a new license or the Real ID option for air travel.

Get ready for air travel now

If you travel by air or might in the future, make sure you have identification acceptable at airport security checkpoints. Starting in May 2023, you will need a Real ID-compliant form of ID for all flights such as a Real ID-compliant state driver license, passport, passport card or U.S. military ID.

Don’t wait until the rush for Real ID licenses and passports! If you want the Real ID option on your Oregon driver license or ID card, you must apply in person – walk in or by appointment.

To make sure you have all you need for Real ID, create your own checklist of documents you’ll need to bring to DMV with our online tool at Oregon.gov/RealID.
