Clatsop and Columbia Counties state highway construction update: February 21-27

 

U.S. 101: Columbia River (Astoria – Megler) Bridge

(Oregon Coast Highway, mile post 0.00 to 0.72)

This project consists of recoating the steel on the northern side of the Columbia River Bridge along U.S. 101 north of Astoria.

 

The scheduled work includes coating structural steel above and below the bridge deck. A 35 mph speed limit through the construction zone will be maintained for the duration of the project. Flaggers will control single lane traffic during construction activities as required. In addition, the signalized intersection at the north end of the bridge will be turned off and controlled by flaggers during the majority of construction activities. Lane delays will be allowed anytime on weekdays and weekends. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and drive through the area with caution. The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2012.

 

OR202: Nehalem River (Banzer) Bridge  

(Nehalem Highway, mile post 43.33 to 44.07)

This project consists of replacing a bridge on OR202 (Nehalem Highway) approximately 3 miles east of Birkenfeld.

 

The scheduled work includes construction of the concrete bridge deck along with rebuilding the roadway. Traffic has been switched over to the new side of the bridge and roadway alignment. Temporary traffic signals will control single lane traffic through the project area along the new roadway alignment 24 hours a day. Flaggers will control single lane traffic during construction activities as required. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and drive through the area with caution. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2012.

 

US101: Three Rivers (Hebo) Bridge #04660A

(Oregon Coast Highway, mile post 84.988 to 85.033)

This project consists of constructing a seismic retrofit to the existing bridge at approximately milepost 85 along U.S. 101 in the town of Hebo. In addition, the existing bridge deck will be overlayed to provide a new road surface and the existing bridge rail will be replaced to improve visibility.

 

Work is scheduled to begin in February. Flaggers will control single lane traffic during construction activities as required. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes and drive through the area with caution. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2012.
