Plan Ahead! Lane Closure in Lafayette Changing Soon
Project Updates
Starting Tuesday, September 7, the work zone on OR 99W through Lafayette will change to a new location, from Jefferson Street to Jackson Street.
We're almost done with the work in Lafayette! We believe that we're still on track to have the majority of OR 99W rebuilt in Lafayette by the end of September or the beginning of October. We might have a few smaller items left to do, but this means you should see normal traffic flow in Lafayette.
The work in Lafayette is part of a larger project that is repairing and replacing poor pavement, installing signal enhancements, making pedestrian improvements and constructing ADA curb ramps between McDougall Junction and McDonald Way in McMinnville. We anticipate completing all of the work for the project in its entirety by the end of November.
What to Expect
As we continue to work in Lafayette you can expect:
- 24/7 eastbound lane closure starting at Jefferson Street to Jackson Street.
- 24/7 flaggers to help direct traffic.
- Access to some side streets from OR 99W will be closed:
- Market Street, both on the north and south side of OR 99W.
- Jackson Street.
- Local traffic driving west on 2nd Street can use Adams Street to get to OR 99W.
- Access to businesses will be maintained.
- Construction noises while our crews are working Monday through Friday,
from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crews stopped working for the Labor Day weekend and all lanes are open. Work will start again on Tuesday, September 7.
- Delays that can last 20 minutes.
- There will be times when we will need to use the travel lane to load and unload materials from our equipment which may increase delays.
Safety is Important!
We know that construction can be disruptive and delays can be frustrating. We've received some comments about unsafe driving in the closure area. Safety is one of our priorities, so we ask that you please be patient with each other and use caution while driving through the work zone.
As a driver, you may not always be able to see what is happening in the work zone. Our flaggers are doing their best to make sure that everyone can move through the area when it is safe for them to do so. Thank you for being understanding while we work on making OR 99W a smoother ride through your community!
