Redwood Highway paving begins next week

Paving area on US 199 west of Grants Pass to the Applegate River

August 19, 2021

GRANTS PASS — Grinding and paving starts on Redwood Highway west of Grants Pass Monday night, August 23 through September 9.

Knife River Materials will begin work in the westbound slow lane near Rogue Community College and work toward the Applegate River. Crews will then switch to the eastbound slow lane. Work is from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday night next week. The following week, expect crews on site Sunday through Thursday nights, August 29 through September 2.

Drivers are urged to use caution in the work zone and watch out for paving crews and equipment. During active paving, traffic will be controlled with a pilot car to keep speeds safe.  A work zone speed limit of 45 mph will be enforced.

The $5.2 million project paves much of Redwood Highway from the South Y — the intersection of Oregon 99, 238 and U.S. 199 — to the Applegate River. The project includes 34 curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
