CORRECTION: Grants Pass DMV will be closed Aug. 16-17 for remodeling

CORRECTION: During the Grants Pass DMV office closure Aug. 16-17, please consider visiting the Medford or Cave Junction office. The Canyonville office cannot handle additional customers.

Aug. 9, 2021

The Grants Pass DMV office will be closed Aug. 16-17 for remodeling and repairs. The office will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, with regular business hours.

The office has been located at 162 Beacon Drive Suite 127 since March 2010. It is open 8 a.m. to 5 pm. Monday through Friday, except Wednesdays when it opens at 10 a.m.

During the closure, please consider visiting the Medford or Cave Junction office. You can make an appointment at DMV2U.Oregon.gov for any office convenient for you. Stand-by service is also available. Stand-by means you can walk up without an appointment and we will do our best to serve you, though customers with appointments take priority.

Remember your face mask

Remember to bring your face mask when you go to a DMV office. Masks are required inside DMV offices and during drive tests conducted by DMV, regardless of vaccination status.

All state offices resumed this safety precaution July 30 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in Oregon this summer. Although it is not a statewide requirement of private businesses, state offices with public contact are following the latest Oregon Health Authority guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus.

Now you can! At DMV2U

Before you visit a DMV office, see if you can get the DMV service you need at DMV2U.Oregon.gov.

DMV has added over 20 new services to DMV2U including driver license renewal, and you can make an appointment for services that must be done in person – such as applying for a new license or the Real ID option for air travel.

You can stop by without an appointment and see if there is an opening for standby service. DMV is busy every summer but especially this summer as it catches up with work built up during COVID-19 restrictions.

Consider getting Real ID

If you travel by air or might in the future, consider getting the Real ID option when you renew your license, permit or ID card. You will need to visit a DMV office in person to apply for your first Real ID card.

Starting in May 2023, you will need a Real ID-compliant form of identification at airport security checkpoints for all flights such as a Real ID-compliant state driver license, passport, passport card or U.S. military ID.

If you want the Oregon Real ID option, you can create a checklist of documents you’ll need to bring to DMV with our online tool at Oregon.gov/RealID.
