AASHTOWare Project / OregonBuys: What’s the Difference?

AASHTOWare Project Logo and OregonBuys Logo

Talk of OregonBuys and AASHTOWare Project is everywhere in ODOT right now. It seems that agency newsletters and notices appear constantly with information about each of them, especially as each program begins stages of implementation that will immediately or ultimately touch our internal and external users.

But what’s the difference between the two? How do they work together? Are they duplicating information? What about the “one source of truth” that APOST promised? As you manage these questions from your subcommittee, your unit, and your customers, you want more details. Looking for more information? Check the link for the facts you need.

APOST Excellence Award

coyote

Our APOST Excellence Award is our way of saying, “We really appreciate you!” We celebrate APOST project staff who work positively and respectfully with others. When we see someone improve a work process or system, we want to say “thanks” and share with everyone! Our first APOST Excellence Award was given to David Dobson earlier this month at the July Steering Committee meeting.

David Dobson has shown outstanding character, dedicating large amounts of his time to the APOST project to ensure its success. David has worked tirelessly to develop the documentation of materials agency views, data population, and acceptance actions. He has engaged staff to tackle the massive amount of work and data. David’s leadership has guided project team members and provided vision, engagement, and enthusiasm for a successful AASHTOWare Construction & Materials™ module implementation.

The APOST Team thanks David for his energy, persistence, dedication, and excellence.

Internet page is now live!

The APOST page is now live! You can access it on the link below, or go to the link on the ODOT Construction Section website. This is our outward facing site. Internal and external users can discover what is happening in APOST.

We have included the AASHTOWare Project basics and links about the different modules offered at ODOT. This site will focus on what we have to offer through APOST for Construction and Materials and for Civil Rights and Labor. Share it with your coworkers and customers. Come back often and learn about the program as we move through the implementation process.

What is the PRT?

You may have seen or heard about the Production Readiness Team, or the PRT for short. The PRT was created to help understand the processes and scope of the various requirements our subcommittees identify for AP go-live—needs such as agency views, data population, acceptance actions, reports, etc.

The team’s goal is to review the areas and procedures identified by the subcommittees, and then to determine a delivery schedule for APOST. The outcome will provide a detailed schedule for the subcommittees to stay on track with the completion of configuration and testing for their processes. This will help AP be ready to go-live.

Many of you explored our updates last month. We have more to review!

Subcommittees

Who can answer my questions?

If you’re on a subcommittee and need to communicate or collaborate with another subcommittee, how do you know which subcommittee you need or who’s the lead? Maybe you’re part of the project team and have questions about the project. You’re not hearing the answers in meetings or reading about them in project updates. Where do you get your answers? Are you on the steering committee or are you an executive involved with the project and have questions? Maybe someone forwarded this newsletter to you because we hadn’t identified you yet as a stakeholder.

Reach out to us! We LOVE answering questions. No, really, we do! Drop us a line! Ask us your question!

If you have any questions regarding APOST or have information to share with us, please reach out to the APOST Project Manager Vanessa Baker or to the Training, Support, and Communications subcommittee at odoteconstruction@odot.state.or.us. We will continue to ensure that we provide our contact information in all of our communication resources.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The main, main question I get is regarding the project timeline, but it's fluctuating all the time. If you have confirmed timelines for what's going live when, and who is affected, that would be valuable.
The overall project schedule end date has not changed from 5/28/23. The CRL module is currently being impacted by external dependencies that may cause a change in its go-live date. These dependencies are being worked out at the ODOT executive level and will be determined shortly.

As decisions are made, an updated schedule will be communicated. To stay up to date, make sure you continue to check out the ODOT APOST webpage and future APOST Times Newsletters.

What are the current timelines for the Civil Rights and Labor and Construction & Materials implementation?
