Final virtual open house set for I-5 Exit 30 interchange plan
June 14, 2021
MEDFORD – A virtual open house on future transportation improvements for the Oregon 62/north Medford interchange area is underway now through June 25. The exit 30 Interchange Area Management Plan examines possible transportation improvements from the intersection of Oregon 238/99/62 (Big X) east through the interchange area to Delta Waters Road.
The online open house is available at: https://odotopenhouse.org/i-5-exit-30-iamp
“The area continues to grow and become more congested. This plan will identify improvements that safely and efficiently move traffic to and through the interchange,” said ODOT Senior Planner Virginia Elandt. There are no design or construction dollars attached to the IAMP.
Existing plans will help guide the IAMP, including the Oregon 62: I-5 to Dutton Road Final Environmental Impact Statement. That plan identified modifying the existing North Medford Interchange to connect directly to the Rogue Valley Expressway, bypassing Oregon 62.
Input from the online open house will help update the final interchange area management plan. A full Oregon 62 corridor study will review suggested improvements from the north Medford interchange to White City. That plan would be approved by the City of Medford and Oregon Transportation Commission in 2024.
Interchange area management plans are long term facility plans required by the Oregon Transportation Commission to protect the public investments at interchanges and the nearby local street network.
