OTC meets May 13

SALEM — The Oregon Transportation Commission will hold a formal business meeting on Thursday, May 13, beginning at 9 a.m. The meeting is being held virtually to ensure public access while maintaining physical distance in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

All meeting materials are available on the OTC Website. Agenda items include:

  • Urban Mobility Office Update: A status update from the Urban Mobility Office on the ongoing Comprehensive Management and Mobility Plan, including a progress report and update from the Equity and Mobility Advisory Committee, and an update on the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project and the Independent Highway Cover Assessment process prior to OTC’s upcoming direction on the highway cover design in July 2021.
  • Climate: Oregon Sustainability Board and Oregon Global Warming Commission Joint Collaborative Discussion on Climate Change.
  • Oregon Transportation Plan Kickoff: Develop understanding of the Oregon Transportation Plan Update (Phase 1) and how it fits with the Oregon Highway Plan Update (Phase 2). Discuss overall process, highlight key milestones, and provide input on next steps.
  • Improving Pedestrian Safety Initiative: Request approval for ODOT to establish and implement a one-time pedestrian safety improvement initiative and refine a programmatic approach to ensure emerging pedestrian safety trends are quickly addressed.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit written comment in advance of the May 13 meeting or sign up for real-time virtual oral public comment.

Submit written testimony or comments electronically by May 11 at 4 p.m. through a submission form on the OTC website to guarantee they are included in the May 13 meeting packet. Comments not included in the meeting packet will be shared with commissioners at the next meeting.
