The Oregon Department of Transportation is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation system. The following roadway improvement projects are located in ODOT Region 2, Area/District 4: Linn, Benton, Lincoln and Polk counties.

OR 99E: Willamette River Bridge Repairs (Harrisburg)

Project Description: The Willamette River Bridge in Harrisburg has low vertical clearance. This project is raising the clearance to over 16 feet.

Traffic Impacts: Work to raise the bridge portals continues. Expect single lane closures controlled by flaggers nightly, Monday night through Friday morning, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

OR 99E Paving MP 29.5-MP 32.2 (Junction City)

Project Description: Paving and bridge work between Harrisburg and Junction City will improve driving conditions along this corridor.

Traffic Impacts: Expect single lane closures controlled by flaggers nightly, Monday night through Friday morning, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

OR 34 Paving MP 7-MP 11 (Waldport)

Project Description: Paving will improve road conditions.

Traffic Impacts: Expect single lane closures controlled by flaggers during daylight hours. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.

U.S. 101: Devil’s Lake Outlet, Schooner Creek and Siltcoos River Bridges

Project Description: This project is repairing and installing corrosion protection on three bridges.

Traffic Impacts: Closures and work are weather dependent.

Devil’s Lake Outlet: The eastern bridge rail and sidewalk is being replaced and the sidewalk is closed during construction.

Schooner Creek Bridge: The eastern bridge rail and portions of the sidewalk are being removed, and new sidewalk and rail will be installed in several phases. Occasional night lane closures occur when concrete pours are needed. The eastern sidewalk is closed while the bridge rail is replaced. Expect minor delays.

Siltcoos River Bridge: Concrete repair and reinforcement work is underway under the bridge. The east rail has been removed in advance of widening the deck and installing new railing. The bridge is one lane with traffic being controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

U.S. 101: SE 32nd St – SE 35th St (Newport)

Project Description: This project will improve travel south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Work includes relocating a traffic signal, improving connections, installing stormwater treatment facilities, installing new illumination, and installing new sidewalks and ADA ramps.

Traffic Impacts:  Expect one lane of travel in each direction, and minor congestion during peak travel hours. Work continues on SE 35th Street as well as storm sewer work on the west side of U.S. 101. All work on 35th is off of the road with minimal impacts to traffic. For the west side of U.S.101, the shoulder will be closed and southbound traffic will be shifted slightly to the east.

U.S. 101: Landslide Repair (Johnson Creek) MP 133.2

Project Description: A large trench drain is being installed east of the highway to slow landslide movement.

Traffic Impacts: All work is taking place off of the highway. Expect minor congestion from trucks entering and exiting the highway.

Yaquina Bay Bridge (Newport)

Project Description: This four year project is replacing the existing corrosion protection system on the bridge and making seismic upgrades.

Traffic Impacts: Most work will take place under the bridge with little impact to traffic. Occasional night lane closures are needed to set up scaffolding and move equipment. The eastern sidewalk will be closed for the duration of the project in the near future. A pedestrian detour is in place at the south end of the bridge.

I-5: Culvert Repair between Woodburn and Goshen

Project Description: This project repairs or replaces 17 culverts along I-5 that are in poor or critical condition between milepost 189 and milepost 268. Work is occurring in Linn County between milepost 212 and milepost 219 through mid-May.

Traffic Impacts: Expect daytime inside and outside shoulder closures Monday through Thursday. Occasional nighttime lane closures may be needed. Work is expected to be completed by July 2021.

I-5: North Albany – Halsey Pavement Preservation Project

Project Description: The project repaired damaged concrete, removed outdated expansion joints, and ground the concrete surface to eliminate ruts. Most work is complete. Remaining work includes reinstalling rumble strips and permanent striping. The project is scheduled to be completed by June 30.

Traffic Impacts: Work has resumed with the installation of permanent striping. This project is weather dependent and will only occur during dry weather.  Scheduled to be completed in June.

Lane closures will typically run Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

OR 99W Curb Ramp Project – SE Chapman Place to SW McKenzie Ave (Corvallis)

Project Description: This project has completed the construction of new ADA ramps at 17 existing street corners in South Corvallis. Construction at an additional 35 locations will start no later than July and wrap up by November 2021. ​

Traffic Impacts: The project is on hold. When it is active, outside lane closures may occur as needed on OR 99W between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Expect delays Monday through Friday.

Region 2 Centerline Rumble Strips

Project Description: Install centerline and shoulder rumble strips on numerous highways throughout Region 2. 

Traffic Impacts: Work continues on OR 22 east of Dallas. Expect single lane closures and mobile work zones. Lane closure hours vary by location and traffic volumes. In general, rumble strip installation will take place at night and re-striping will occur during the day.
