As we head into April and look forward to the summer, it is a good time to remember to think about transportation safety.
April and May have focused events that raise awareness of transportation safety. Not only does April have Work Zone Safety Awareness Week and Go-Orange Day, but it is also Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Transportation Safety Month follows all this in May.
However, it is important to remember that safety is not something we only focus on during April and May. At the heart of all of our programs in the Division, our job is to contribute to the safety of the transportation system. Whether we are ensuring vehicles comply with size and weight requirements to avoid costly crashes, or inspecting vehicles/drivers to ensure conformance with safety guidelines, our goal is to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on the transportation system.
On May 1, CCD will launch a new hub for motor carriers to find all transportation safety-related information, events and resources online: A one-stop shop that makes finding safety information easy for carriers. In the meantime, this edition of Motor Carrier News focuses on a variety of safety related topics and highlights important updates for the industry.
As always, thank you for reading!
