The Oregon Department of Transportation is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation system. The following roadway improvement projects are located in ODOT Region 2, Area/District 4: Linn, Benton, Lincoln and Polk counties.

 

OR 99E: Willamette River Bridge Repairs (Harrisburg)

Project Description: The Willamette River Bridge in Harrisburg has low vertical clearance. This project is raising the clearance to over 16 feet.

Traffic Impacts: Work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 15. Expect single lane closures controlled by flaggers nightly, Monday night through Friday morning, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

U.S. 101: Devil’s Lake Outlet, Schooner Creek and Siltcoos River Bridges

Project Description: This project is repairing and installing corrosion protection on three bridges.

Traffic Impacts: Closures and work are weather dependent.

Devil’s Lake Outlet: The eastern bridge rail and sidewalk is being replaced and the sidewalk is closed during construction.

Schooner Creek Bridge: The eastern bridge rail and portions of the sidewalk are being removed, and new sidewalk and rail will be installed in several phases. Occasional night lane closures occur when concrete pours are needed. The eastern sidewalk is closed while the bridge rail is replaced. Expect minor delays.

Siltcoos River Bridge: Concrete repair and reinforcement work is underway under the bridge. The east rail has been removed in advance of widening the deck and installing new railing. The bridge is one lane with traffic being controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

U.S. 101: SE 32nd St – SE 35th St (Newport)

Project Description: This project will improve travel south of the Yaquina Bay Bridge for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Work includes relocating a traffic signal, improving connections, installing stormwater treatment facilities, installing new illumination, and installing new sidewalks and ADA ramps.

Traffic Impacts:  Work will begin with improvements to 35th Street. For the week of March 15 work will occur on the west side of U.S. 101 near 35th Street. All work will be off of the roadway with minimal impacts to traffic. For future work expect possible traffic shifts and pedestrian detours.

Yaquina Bay Bridge (Newport)

Project Description: This four-year project is replacing the existing corrosion protection system on the bridge and making seismic upgrades.

Traffic Impacts: Most work will take place under the bridge with little impact to traffic. Occasional night lane closures are needed to set up scaffolding and move equipment into place. The eastern sidewalk will be closed for the duration of the project in the near future. A pedestrian detour is in place at the south end of the bridge.

I-5: North Albany – Halsey Pavement Preservation Project

Project Description: The project repaired damaged concrete, removed outdated expansion joints, and ground the concrete surface to eliminate ruts. Most work is complete.  Remaining work includes reinstalling rumble strips and permanent striping.  The project is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2021.

Traffic Impacts: The project is on hold until the late spring when the weather improves. When construction commences there will be minor delays with nighttime lane closures in both the southbound and northbound directions between milepost 235 and milepost 216. Work is weather dependent.

Lane closures will typically run Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

OR 99W Curb Ramp Project – SE Chapman Place to SW McKenzie Ave (Corvallis)

Project Description: This project is wrapping up construction of new ADA ramps at 17 existing street corners in South Corvallis by early April. Construction at an additional 35 locations will start no later than July and wrap up by November 2021. ​

Traffic Impacts: Outside lane closures may occur as needed on OR 99W between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Expect delays. Work occurs at multiple locations at the same time, between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
