DMV and trucking call centers and many offices remain closed

DMV and the Commerce and Compliance Division call centers and many offices may remain closed due to hazardous air quality in offices across the state.

Impact on DMV customers
Calling DMV: DMV may not be available by phone. When call centers reopen, they may not be staffed fully. Already overwhelmed by the COVID-19 backlog, please expect long wait times when call centers reopen.

Call center staff are not available to confirm appointments. DMV is now sending out email messages to customers whenever appointments are canceled.
Rescheduling appointments: If your appointment was canceled due to hazardous air quality this week, DMV will contact you to reschedule.
Appointment availability: Most appointment slots are full over the next several weeks, but DMV will prioritize rescheduling appointments for customers whose visits were canceled due to hazardous air quality. DMV is preparing to open new appointment slots later this month for additional appointment dates and times.
DMV2U open 24/7: Check to see if you can get your DMV services online at DMV2U.Oregon.gov. Driver license and ID card replacements are now available from the website, plus several other new services.
Vehicle emissions testing: Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) recommends checking their Vehicle Inspection Program home page for unexpected closures or alerts before visiting an emissions testing site.
VIN inspections: DMV is scaling back its drop-in vehicle VIN Inspections due to air quality issues. Check your local office status at the DMV website.
Impact on motor carriers
Office closures: The Salem Registration Office and Portland Bridge Office (Hayden Island Permits) were closed Tuesday, Sept. 15. This includes call centers for tax, registration and over-dimension permits.
Use Trucking Online: We encourage carriers to utilize Oregon Trucking Online to conduct business. If you have questions or need further assistance, please use the “Contact Us” link on our website to send an email.
Calling CCD: All call centers are closed. We are contacting carriers in response to the “Contact Us” link. We are operating with reduced staff. In response to the emergency many requirements have been waived, emergency declaration link here.
Over-dimension permits: We will continue to issue permits with a limited number of staff. Please understand that there may be delays in receiving your permits. In addition, if you are responding to or providing relief related to the wild fires in Oregon, the emergency declaration acts as a permit for legal axle weights that exceed 80,000 pounds gross weight up to a maximum of 105,500 pounds gross weight. Please carry a copy of the declaration with you. For all other loads, please visit Oregon Trucking Online.
