OR 36 pavement preservation project begins August 3

Expect daytime delays between OR 99 and Cheshire

CHESHIRE — A pavement preservation project begins on OR 36 Junction City – Mapleton Highway between OR 99 and Cheshire next month, mileposts 40 to 52. The pavement on this section is in need of preservation work to avoid more costly maintenance in the future.

A layer of asphalt with embedded sand and gravel, known as chip sealing, will be applied to the top of the existing pavement throughout the length of the project area.

The project is scheduled to begin August 3 and be complete August 12. Work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work is weather and temperature dependent and so the schedule may vary. The work zone will be about three miles and move each day.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car, with delays of up to 20 minutes.
