Troutdale Bridge over the Sandy River opens

Crews reopened the Troutdale Bridge over the Sandy River to vehicle traffic Thursday afternoon, May 14.

Traffic impacts

Next week, travelers should expect flaggers to direct traffic across the bridge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday as crews complete work.

New railing and walkway

Crews work on the new pedestrian walkway and railing.

About the project

We will replace the wooden walkway with synthetic lumber, which has a longer lifespan, reduced maintenance needs and similar appearance to wood. We will also widen it to better serve users, including those with disabilities.

Other project elements include:

  • Repairs to small sections of the steel bridge.
  • Replacing the aging wooden guardrail with metal guardrail designed to resemble the original.
  • Replacing the lighting on the bridge to increase visibility and safety.
  • Making minor traffic control changes at the intersection on the northeast end of the bridge.
