Construction Continues on OR 212
Over the past few months, we have been working on Oregon 212 through Damascus to install ADA-compliant sidewalk and curb ramp. There have been short-term lane and sidewalk closures as we moved through the area, and those impacts will continue intermittently over the next 2-3 months.
Similar work and traffic impacts are now occurring in Boring, along with short-term driveway impacts. This will also continue intermittently over the next 2-3 months. We appreciate your patience while we make these ADA improvements.
What's next?
Along with the sidewalk and curb ramp construction, upcoming work also includes paving and bridge construction. Drivers will encounter reduced speed limits on some sections of OR 212. Project completion is expected in 2021. Over the next few months, road users can expect:
- Continuing construction of ADA-compliant sidewalk curb ramps and pedestrian facilities in Damascus and Boring.
- Installation of two temporary crosswalks in Damascus across OR 212 near SE Wiese Road and SE Rust Way. These are necessary for pedestrians to safely cross the highway while sidewalks are temporarily closed.
- Road repairs in preparation for paving. A majority of the road repairs are in Boring, with a small section between Damascus and Boring.
- Paving on OR 212 from Interstate 205 to U.S. 26 beginning in June.
- Full 24/7 closure of OR 212 for 12 days at North Fork Deep Creek for bridge installation this summer in July and August.
