NEWBERG—Construction has begun on the Newberg-Dundee Bypass Phase 1W Wilsonville Road Realignment Project in south Newberg. The Oregon Department of Transportation has set up an online open house for those who want to learn more about the project and the construction impacts at http://openhouse.oregondot.org/or-18-newberg-dundee-bypass-phase-1w.

Phase 1 of the Bypass was opened in January 2018 and Phase 2 is currently in design. This project continues Phase 1 work with the realignment of Wilsonville Road to connect to OR 219 about 750 feet south of Wynooski Road. This work is needed to prepare for the future construction of the Phase 2 intersection with OR 219.

There shouldn’t be significant construction impacts because most of the work will be done off of mainline OR 219. The project will rebuild NE Adolf Road to a two-lane roadway and will be renamed NE Wilsonville Road. Also included in the project will be the removal of the medium barrier at the Springbrook Road and NE Wilsonville Road intersection to allow for left turns.

The Wilsonville Road Realignment Project will be completed this summer. The interested public is urged to visit the online open house to learn more about the project.
