Visit with new commissioner, commission leadership and new director, Kris Strickler

Dec. 3, 2019

Dear friends of Oregon transportation,

With new leadership and membership on the Oregon Transportation Commission and at the top of ODOT, we invite you to an informal meet and greet opportunity on Tuesday, December 17 from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Boulder Falls Conference Center, 605 Mullins Drive in Lebanon.

Stakeholders and the public will have an opportunity to meet new Oregon Transportation Commission Chair Bob Van Brocklin, new Vice Chair Alando Simpson, new Commissioner Sharon Smith, and Commissioners Julie Brown and Martin Callery, as well as new ODOT Director Kris Strickler.

The OTC and ODOT have seen significant leadership changes with the resignation of long-time Director Matthew Garrett and the departure of Chair Tammy Baney from the commission. The OTC’s new chair, Bob Van Brocklin, has served on the commission since fall, 2017 and recently served as vice-chair. He was named chair on September 1 by Governor Kate Brown. Commissioner Alando Simpson, the longest-serving OTC member, has been on the commission since July 2014 and was appointed vice-chair by Chair Van Brocklin in September. The commission’s newest member, Sharon Smith, is an attorney in central Oregon and was nominated by Governor Brown in September to fill Baney’s seat.

Commissioners selected Kris Strickler, who previously served as ODOT Highway Division administrator, as ODOT’s new director in September, and Strickler was officially confirmed in November by the Oregon Senate.

This gathering is open to the public and accommodations can be made available. To request an accommodation, please contact Jacque Carlisle at least 48 hours in advance, at 503-986-3450, statewide relay, 711 or OTCAdmin@odot.state.or.us.
