Three AV Task Force subcommittees will meet in Salem

Salem, Ore. – The Task Force on Autonomous Vehicles will host three subcommittee meetings:

June 28: Bicyclist and Pedestrian Safety meeting, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, Council Chamber at the Metro Regional Center, 600 N.E. Grand Ave, Portland, OR 97232. -- The Subcommittee on Public Transit and the Subcommittee on Road and Infrastructure Design will hold a special joint meeting in Portland to discuss automated vehicles and the safety of vulnerable road users. They will receive presentations from Becky Gilliam, Pacific Northwest Regional Policy Manager at Safe Routes to School; Michael Clamann, Senior Human Factors Engineer at the UNC Highway Safety Research Center; Ken McLeod, Policy Director at the League of American Bicyclists; and A. J. Zelada, former chair of the Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

July 10: Workforce Changes Subcommittee meeting, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, Room 440 at the Transportation Building, 355 Capitol St. N.E. in Salem. -- Gail Krumenauer, Senior Economic Analyst with the Oregon Employment Department, will discuss her research for the workforce report. The subcommittee will also scope and consider elements to be included in the independent RFP study.

July 11: Public Transit Subcommittee meeting, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, Room 228 at the ODOT Building at 123 N.W. Flanders St., Portland. -- The subcommittee will receive a presentation on automated vehicles and the Oregon Public Transportation Plan, review the types of public transportation, and discuss their final product.
The task force was created by House Bill 4063, which names 31 stakeholders as members, including four legislators, state agency representatives, law enforcement, truck and automobile interests, technology company representatives, consumer interests, worker interests and more.
The agenda for all task force and subcommittee meetings will include time for public comment, which can also be submitted via email to OregonAVTaskForce@odot.state.or.us.
