Save the Date for Wyeth-Lindsey Creek Trail Opening

Wyeth to Lindsey Creek: Save the Date

Please joins us to celebrate the newest three-miles of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail on August 3, 2019.

The celebration will include speeches and a ribbon cutting, along with stations and booths for learning about the new trail and the environment through which it passes.

Construction continues in preparation for the late summer opening.

Recent construction activities include:

  • Paving the Wyeth Trailhead including all curb stone and sidewalks.
  • Paving the trail east from the trailhead to start of wall 1.
  • Finishing cement work on the Summit Creek Viaduct.

With the completion of this segment of trail, we are closer than ever to fulfilling the decades-long vision of reconnecting the original "King of Roads," the 73-mile continuous route through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Wa Na Pa Streetscape Improvements

ODOT is working with City of Cascade Locks to enhance Wa Na Pa Street, the main thoroughfare through the community, and an ODOT maintained facility following the original alignment of the Historic Columbia River Highway.

This coming fall using House Bill 2017 funding ($750,000) ODOT will be replacing and upgrading the sidewalk ramps through town. The project extends from Toll House Road (Bridge of the Gods intersection) to Forest Lane. ODOT will be improving the ramps at eleven intersections including installing crosswalks at Regulator Street, Oneonta Street and School Street. Following the ADA enhancements, in spring 2020 ODOT will repave the roadway and install permanent crosswalk parking and other markings, using maintenance funds. Combining House Bill 2017 funding for sidewalk curb ramps and maintenance funding for paving will enhance the overall streetscape of Wa Na Pa Street.
