Full Closure of I-405 North to I-5 South This Weekend (May 17-May 20)

The following ramps will close 24/7 from from 8 p.m., Friday, May 17 to 10 a.m., Monday, May 20:

• I-405 north to I-5 south.
• N Greeley Avenue on-ramp to I-5 south.

Signs will direct drivers to detour routes below.

DETOUR ROUTES

I-405 North to I-5 South Detour Route

From I-405 North I-5 South:

• Take I-5 north toward Seattle.
• Take the Rosa Parks Way off-ramp (Exit 304).
• Turn left onto Rosa Parks Way.
• Turn left onto the Rosa Parks Way on-ramp to I-5 south.

From U.S. 30 or U.S. 26 to I-84 East:

• Take I-405 south.
• Take I-5 north toward Seattle.
• Merge into right-hand lanes and take I-84 east (Exit 300).

N Greeley Avenue On-ramp to I-5 South Detour Route

From N Greeley

• Continue on N Greeley Ave.
• Turn right on N Interstate Ave.
• Turn left on N Larrabee Ave.
• Turn right on N Winning Way.
• Head straight for the N Winning Way on-ramp to I-5 south.

From Swan Island

• Continue on N Going St.
• Head straight for the Going St on-ramp to I-5 south.

Ramp Closures:

• Full nighttime closure of the I-405 northbound off-ramp to N Kerby from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23. Signs will direct drivers to detour route using I-5 south to Broadway/Weidler/Moda Center off-ramp (Exit 302A) found here.

Lane & Shoulder Closures:

• Left lane closure on I-405 north across the Fremont Bridge from 8 p.m., Friday, May 17 to 10 a.m., Monday, May 20.
• Right lane closed on I-405 north starting mid-way on the Fremont Bridge through the Kerby off-ramp from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23.
• Right lane closed on the ramp from I-405 northbound to I-5 northbound from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23.
• Shoulder closure on N Kerby / N Cook on-ramp to I-405 south from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23.
• Single lane 24/7 closure on N Kerby / N Cook closure for construction equipment staging and work area until fall 2020.​

Local Roads:

Intermittent daytime lane closures will occur on Graham Street between Interstate Avenue and Mississippi Avenue for work overhead on I-405. Sidewalks and bike lanes will remain open and accessible to people with disabilities. Pedestrians and bicycles should be aware of possible construction equipment in the area. Some delays may occur.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Construction is underway to repair and replace a number of freeway joints on the elevated sections of Interstate 405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and from I-405 north to U.S. 26 west. These repairs will improve the condition and maintain the long-term safety and use of this heavily traveled freeway.
