Marion, Polk, Linn, and Yamhill Counties state highway construction update: May 4 - May 11, 2019
OR18: ASH ROAD – MCDOUGALL JUNCTION (Salmon River Highway, MP 50.11 to MP 52.52) Yamhill County
This project consists of bridge and drainage modifications, guard-railing, asphalt and concrete pavement rehabilitation of the original roadway alignment with additional safety improvements.
Special Note: From May 6 to May 24, travelers will detour through Lafayette around the closure. Eastbound traffic take OR 154 north to Lafayette then east on OR 99W to McDougall Junction. The detour reverses for travelers from Dundee. Local traffic can travel to and from Dayton on OR 18 from OR 154 to the OR 18/OR221 (Salem-Dayton Highway) interchange. The three week, 24-hour full closure is from Monday morning 12:01a.m. through Friday at 6 a.m. each weekday. The roadway will be open each weekend.
After Memorial Day there will be periodic nighttime one lane closures on OR 18 from Sunday night at midnight to 5 a.m. Monday, and nightly Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect up to 20 minute delays during these lane closures.
OR 22: Sourgrass Creek Culvert Project (MP 11.33) Yamhill County
An existing culvert near milepost 11.33 is being replaced with a new bridge. The bridge is being built one half at a time. Due to limited working space one lane of traffic will be closed for the duration of the project. Traffic will be controlled with 24-hour flagging once bridge construction begins.
Crews begin on-site work on Monday, May 6, installing temporary signs and clearing trees. One lane will be closed during daytime hours. Expect minor delays.
I-5: RAMPS ADA UPGRADES (Salem) PROJECT (Pacific Highway, MP 253.88 to MP 258.62) Marion County
This project consists of modifying and upgrading drainage, curbs, sidewalks and ramps for bicycle and pedestrian traffic at three major I-5 interchanges in Salem. The work includes modifications to pedestrian push-buttons, with traffic signal upgrades, and additional safety improvements. The three interchanges cross streets are Mission Avenue (OR 22 – Santiam Highway), Market Street and Portland Road (OR 99E – Pacific Highway East).
Local traffic lanes and occasionally freeway ramps will be periodically closed to accomplish this work. Expect city street lane closures nightly, Sunday night through Friday mornings, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Expect I-5 ramp closures nightly, Sunday night through Friday mornings, between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
OR22: CULVERT (MP 1.20) PROJECT (Willamina – Salem Highway, MP 1.07 to MP 1.31), Polk County
A culvert is being replaced under the existing roadway by first building a temporary roadway diversion alongside the current road, replacing the existing culvert and restoring the original roadway alignment with additional safety improvements.
The roadway work and temporary signing is installed. The project is temporarily on hold until in-stream culvert replacement can be done. Work is scheduled to resume in May.
REGION 2 CURVE WARNING SIGNS (Part 3) PROJECT Various Highways and Counties
Updating and replacing signs in areas with multiple small radius curves on several specific routes in Clackamas, Marion and Linn Counties.
Work continues on US 20 (Santiam Highway, MP 33.05 to MP 87.8), in Linn County and on OR22 (North Santiam Highway, MP 37.67 to MP 67.82), in Marion County. One or more traffic lanes may be closed on these highways. Lanes will be closed by flagging and pilot car operations.
Motorists should expect primarily daytime lane closures, between Sunday, 7:00 p.m. and Friday 11:00 p.m.
OR99W: HOFFMAN RD. TO MONMOUTH S.C.L., Sec., in Polk County
This project includes signal improvements at Hoffman Rd.; bridge rehabilitation work; resurfacing of the Highway from Hoffman Rd. to Church St.; new traffic signal at the intersection of OR 99W and Main St.; Highway reconstruction from Church St. to Madrona Ave., including new curbs, sidewalks, driveways, landscape plantings and signage.
A temporary traffic signal was recently turned on at the intersection of OR 99W and Main St. Traffic was shifted west to accommodate the construction of new curbs and sidewalks on the east side of OR 99W. This was the first of many traffic lane shifts that occur during the next 8 months.
Motorists should expect to see daytime and nighttime operations, with intermittent night time lane closures occurring nightly, Sunday night through Friday morning, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
OR99W: ASH SWALE & PLUM CREEK BRIDGES (Pacific Highway West, MP49.69 to MP51.23), Polk County
This scope of this project includes removing and replacing the existing structures at Plum Creek and Ash Swale.
At the Plum Creek site, the existing bridge will be removed and replaced with a box culvert; and at the Ash Swale site, the existing bridge will be removed and replaced with a new bridge.
The project will be done in multiple stages, with multiple lane shifts. Expect intermittent flagger controlled lane closures Monday through Thursday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Monday night through Friday morning, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will be available and identified through or around the work zones.
