Summer construction is here! As people go about their lives, we'd like them to know what construction, lane closures, detours and delays should be expected.
We could use your help
Next week you will see activity on I-5 as crews prepare for a paving project that will last into the fall. This will impact everyone who uses the interstate, and those along the alternate routes. For your convenience we've created a map of our major projects planned for this construction season.

The more information we can provide about the project, the better chance we have to help people get to where they need to go.
If you can help get the word out, there are specific materials for the I-5 project. These resources can be found on the project page.
Project Information:
Travelers should plan for up to 30 minute delays as paving begins on Interstate 5 between Woodburn and Salem. Over 12 miles of road will be paved, including six bridges. Preparation work begins this week. Expect most work to be done overnight.
The Schedule
May 13 work begins on the bridges, with nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The speed limit in the construction zone is 50 mph for work zone safety and Oregon State Police are monitoring traffic.
May 19 paving begins on the northbound I-5 lanes between Brooks and Woodburn. Lane closures begin as early as 7 p.m. and continue as late as 9 a.m.
This stretch of Interstate 5 was last paved 11 years ago and is deteriorating. Paving now creates a smoother, quieter drive for thousands of daily travelers.
Know before you go
Completing a project of this size in one summer requires more work hours per day and depends on good weather as paving requires dry, warm conditions. Stay informed and know before you go.
