I-5 Central Point NB off-ramp work begins
March 8, 2019 R3-07-19
CENTRAL POINT - Construction begins Monday night to improve the Interstate 5 northbound off-ramp at Exit 33 in Central Point.
Contractor Knife River Materials will build an additional right turn lane for the northbound off-ramp onto East Pine Street. The $967,000 project will include new signals and sidewalk ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Central Point and the nearby Costco are contributing $500,000 to the project.
All the work will be on ODOT right-of-way.
The northbound off-ramp will remain open – as will adjacent businesses - during construction. Much of the work will be done during the daytime hours. Drivers should watch for construction-related vehicles pulling into and out of the construction zone, which will be isolated from traffic with concrete barrier and barrels. Portable variable messages signs will be posted northbound to alert drivers of the work and possible back-ups on the ramp.
The project is expected to finish by the end of June.
