What’s happening

Plan Ahead: Beginning on Monday, March 18 the on-ramp from 6th Avenue to I-105 will close for six weeks.*

This is the first of four ramp closures at the south end of the project. Expect each ramp to be closed at some point between now and project completion.

* All schedules are subject to change due to weather.

The bridge removal project will be completed before the on-ramp closes.

  • March 11: All westbound lanes will be open, until later in the project.

One eastbound lane will remain closed as crews work on bridge rail replacement and bridge joints. By keeping one lane closed now, the full closure of the eastbound Washington Street on-ramp should be a shorter length of time when it happens.

On TripCheck you can get an update on construction (lane and ramp closure status) and see how traffic is flowing.

City of Eugene cameras

Cameras on 6th and 7th Streets are now on TripCheck so you can see how traffic is moving. Cameras are coming on Coburg Road.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Interstate 105 (Washington/Jefferson Street Bridge) Bridge Repair Project is bringing bridges and ramps between Delta Highway and downtown Eugene up to current standards. The bridges were built in the late 1960s and early 1970s and need repair and upgrades. Work includes new guardrail, deck paving, seismic retrofits, joint replacements, and other repairs.

Impacts

We continue to revise the project to reflect the most efficient and cost-effective approach with the fewest community impacts. However, lane and ramp closures will be necessary to complete the work. Work will occur day and night, and it will be noisy at times.

Know Before you Go with the most up to date information about the project at TripCheck.com. All work schedules are subject to change due to weather. You may find that I-105 is your best option. Go at a different time. Consider the bus, carpooling, or biking.

We are working closely with the City of Eugene, Lane County, Lane Transit District, Point2point Solutions, and other partners to coordinate area construction projects, minimize your inconvenience, and let you know about other available transportation options. Each agency has its projects on TripCheck.com. Access for pedestrians, including those with disabilities, and cyclists is available and identified through or around work zones.

Updates on construction are sent to the mailing list on a regular basis as work continues.

We appreciate your patience! We promise to get in, get done and get out as quickly as we safely can. The end result will be a safer and more reliable transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon’s communities and economy thrive.
