I-405 Ramps Project: Constructions Begins & Nighttime Closures U.S. 30 East to I-405

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON I-405 RAMPS PROJECT MONDAY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Construction is underway to repair and replace a number of freeway joints on the elevated sections of Interstate 405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and from I-405 north to U.S. 26 west. These repairs will improve the condition and maintain the long-term safety and use of this heavily traveled freeway. (Look below for this week's traffic impacts.)

Work includes:

• Replacing or repairing forty-two freeway joints on I-405.
• New concrete surfaces near replaced joints and on these three sections of freeway ramps:
       • U.S. 30 east to I-405 north
       • U.S. 30 east to I-405 south
       • I-405 north to U.S. 26 west

GENERAL TRAFFIC IMPACT INFORMATION

This work will impact traffic on multiple freeways including I-405, U.S. 30, Interstate 5 and U.S. 26. These closures are needed to maintain a safe work zone for the traveling public and construction staff. Significant traffic delays and congestion are expected.

Traffic impacts include:

• Nighttime single and double lane closures throughout the project area.
• Weekend daytime lane closures
• Nighttime and around-the-clock weekend closures of on- and off-ramps (detailed on map).
• Full 24/7 closures of U.S. 30 east to I-405 north (18 days) and U.S. 30 east to I-405 south (11 days).
• Closures of sidewalks, lanes and parking on local roads under I-405.

RAMP AND LANE CLOSURES

Multiple weekend and overnight closures of on- and off-ramps and lanes will take place for construction. (Find the ramp closure project map here.) At times, multiple lanes on I-405 may close, leaving freeway traffic to share one lane in some sections.

Approximately 25 weekend closures* of on- and off-ramps and lanes are expected in the project area, along with frequent nighttime closures of each ramp. Night work is needed in order to minimize traffic impacts during the day.

Around-the-clock weekend closures will start as early as 8 p.m. on Fridays and will end by 10 a.m. on Mondays for each of the ramps shown. Multiple on- and off-ramp closures may happen at the same time. Dates for each weekend closure will be posted on the project website and sent through email in advance.

* This number could change due to weather or other conditions.

Nighttime Closures Starting March 18: U.S. 30 East to I-405 North and U.S. 30 East to I-405 South

U.S. 30 east to I-405 south and U.S. 30 east to I-405 north will experience intermittent full nighttime closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22. Single lane closures will begin at 8 p.m.

U.S. 30 to I-405 north and U.S. 30 to I-405 south will not close at the same time. Signs will direct drivers to detour routes shown below.

DETOUR ROUTES

U.S. 30 East to I-405 North Detour Route:

• Take I-405 south to I-5 north
• Continue on I-5 north or take Interstate 84 east

U.S. 30 East to I-405 North Detour Route

U.S. 30 East to I-405 South Detour Route:

• Take I-405 north to I-5 south
• Follow I-5 south to I-405 north or to U.S. 26 west

U.S. 30 East to I-405 South Detour Route
