Two meetings will cover legislation, other business

SALEM - The Governor’s Advisory Committee on Motorcycle Safety (GAC-MS) will hold a meeting by phone at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19 to cast its recommendation vote on recently proposed legislation on lane splitting, HB 2314. This meeting has been called as a result of HB 2314 being scheduled for a hearing that will occur prior to the committee’s regular monthly meeting. The committee will not be taking public comment at this brief meeting. The public can listen in by joining Safety Division staff in person for the phone call at ODOT’s Technical Leadership Center, 4040 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE, Alsea Conference Room in Salem.
The committee will hold its regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21 at ODOT’s Technical Leadership Center, 4040 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE, Diamond Lake Conference Room in Salem. The agenda includes a presentation from Team Oregon, legislative bill tracking, discussion about the group’s strategic plan, reports from liaison organizations and more.
The Governor’s Advisory Committee on Motorcycle Safety is charged with the responsibility to advise the governor and ODOT’s Transportation Safety Division on issues regarding motorcycle rider safety. The committee reviews, proposes and makes recommendations concerning motorcycle safety-related legislation. The GAC-MS meetings also serve as a public forum for motorcyclists to discuss safety issues and to share motorcyclist safety information with riders and the general public. The next meeting is scheduled for March 21.
