Downtown Portland DMV to close for 3 weeks to complete expansion

PORTLAND – The Downtown Portland DMV will be closed Feb. 11 through March 1 to complete work to enlarge the office.

The office, located at 1502 SW Sixth Ave., will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, March 4.

The office’s normal business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; except Thursdays when the office opens at 9 a.m.

The expansion of this office began late last year with a two-week closure from Thanksgiving to Dec. 7. The upcoming closure will complete the project by merging the existing office space with the new section. When complete, the office will have:

• Larger lobby space
• Upgraded customer counter stations
• Additional exit door for customer and employee safety
• Addition of a restroom that meets federal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Downtown Portland office has been in its current location since July 1989. This expansion project will help the office serve the area’s growing number of customers.
