Weekly Construction Update:
October 27-November 3, 2018*

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – at I-84 interchange

Project Description: This project will repair and resurface the bridges that connect I-84 and I-5. 

Traffic Impacts: Expect nighttime and weekend closures of the ramp from I-5 south to I-84 east until Oct. 29 and the ramp from I-84 west to I-5 north into November.

Nighttime closures are 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and weekend closures are 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Interstate Bridge to Moda Center paving

Project Description: This project will repave approximately six miles of Interstate 5 and exit and entrance ramps between the Interstate Bridge and the Moda Center. The project will also replace and upgrade existing signs on the mainline and on exit ramps, upgrade ADA ramps and replace the median barrier on the Hayden Island Bridge and near the North Broadway exit.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime lane closures in both directions from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays.

Daytime work at Victory Boulevard, Marine Drive and Rosa Parks Way Monday through Thursday.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Paving and Auxiliary Lane

Project Description: This project will add a southbound auxiliary lane on I-5 from Lower Boones Ferry Road to I-205, add a second lane to the Lower Boones Ferry Road off-ramp from I-5 north, and pave I-5 from OR 99W to I-205.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime lane closures and ramp closures. Rolling slowdowns in both directions at night Nov. 2-5 between the South Waterfront and I-205.

During rolling slowdowns, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., until 4 a.m. Monday, all on-ramps between Exit 299A (on-ramp from SW Hood Avenue) and I-205 (exit 288) will be periodically closed. Expect long delays.

The following southbound on- ramps will be closed at night next week: Exit 291 toward Carman Drive, Exit 290 toward Lower Boones Ferry, Exit 289 toward Nyberg Street, OR 217 on-ramp (exit 292) and the I-205 off-ramp (exit 288) will be periodically closed at night.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Sagert Street Bridge repairs

Project Description: Repairs on the Sagert Street overpass for I-5 in Tualatin are underway after an overheight vehicle damaged the structure.

Traffic Impacts: Expect flagging on Sagert Street at night. Periodic closures of the Nyberg Street on-ramp to southbound I-5 (exit 289).

Interstate 84 – Banfield Expressway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on I-84 between I-5 and I-205. During sign installations, there will be several full nighttime freeway closures. 

Traffic Impacts: Periodic shoulder closures on NE 74th Avenue and I-84.

Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway – Wyeth to Lindsey Creek

Project Description: This project is constructing the next phase of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. This segment will connect Wyeth Campgrounds to the State Trail at Lindsey Creek. Construction will occur through summer 2019.

Traffic Impacts: Daytime single lane closures for eastbound I-84 from milepost 51-53 Monday through Thursday from at 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Glenn Jackson Bridge to Johnson Creek Boulevard

Project Description: This project will pave 9 miles of I-205 between Johnson Creek Boulevard and the Glenn Jackson Bridge, including some ramps, build auxiliary lanes in three locations, install ODOT RealTime electronic signs and make pedestrian improvements at Glisan Street.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime double lane closures in both directions from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Northbound rolling slowdowns overnight Nov. 1. Expect long delays.

Overnight on Thursday, expect long delays between midnight and 5 a.m., Friday for rolling slowdowns. All northbound on-ramps between 10th Street (exit 6) and Glisan Street will experience traffic holds and delays. The I-84 east and westbound ramps to I-205 northbound will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The I-205 north off-ramp to Sandy Boulevard (exit 23A) will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Shared Use Path at Maywood Park

Project Description:This project repaves the section of the I-205 Shared Use Path that runs through Maywood Park between the pedestrian bridge at I-84 near Northeast Fremont Street until Northeast Prescott Street.

Traffic Impacts: Expect pedestrian and cyclist detours for path users and up-to 20 minute delays.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Cornelius Pass Road to 185th Avenue

Project Description: This project will widen U.S. 26 to three lanes in each direction between Cornelius Pass Road and NW 185th Avenue, replace the two Rock Creek bridges with one bridge, improve the north side of the Cornelius Pass Road interchange and build a sound wall on the north side of U.S. 26 westbound in the Rock Creek neighborhood.

Traffic Impacts: Periodic shoulder closures.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Regional Connections

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on U.S. 26 between I-405 and OR 217 and on I-84 between I-5 and I-205. New technology will be installed on TV Highway from OR 217 to Brookwood Parkway and on local Washington County roads. 

Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts.

U.S. 26 – Powell Boulevard – Safety Improvements

Project Description: This project will make safety improvements on Powell Boulevard from Southeast 20th to 34th Avenues. Improvements include installing pedestrian activated beacons, new signs improved lighting, and crosswalk and sidewalk improvements.

Traffic Impacts: Daytime single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

U.S. 26 – Mt. Hood Highway – Mirror Lake (Milepost 52)

Project Description: Relocate the Mirror Lake trailhead and parking lot along U.S. 26 west of Government Camp.

Traffic Impacts: Flaggers will direct travelers weekdays during daylight hours. Expect 20-minute delays.

Oregon 8 – Tualatin Valley Highway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently.

Traffic Impacts: Pedestrian detours on local roads.

Oregon 213 – 82nd Avenue – SE Lindy Street to SE King Road

Project Description: This project will pave SE 82nd Avenue from SE Lindy Street to SE King Road and install new sidewalk curb ramps.

Traffic Impacts: Expect periodic day and nighttime single lane closures.

Oregon 213 – 82nd Avenue – Signal Upgrades

Project Description: This project will upgrade traffic signals and install sidewalk curb ramps on SE 82nd Avenue at the intersections of SE Foster Road, SE Woodstock Boulevard and SE Flavel Street. Construction is expected through 2018.

Traffic Impacts: Daytime single lane closures from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Oregon 213 – Cascade Highway South – Highway repairs in Mulino

Project Description: Crews are constructing a pavement repair at the site of an ancient landslide on OR 213 in Mulino near South Eldorado Road.

Traffic Impacts: Expect periodic single lane closures.
